Valve's regular weekend sale from their Steam service is a particularly timely one. For this weekend only you can download and purchase Capcom's 2007 third person sci-fi action game Lost Planet for just $4.99. That's 75 percent off its normal Steam price.
If you have been wondering what Battleforge will be like when its released next month, you now have every chance to find out. Starting today the closed beta test for the fantasy RTS-collectible card game from developer Phenomic and publisher Electronic Arts has now opened up for anyone to play. There is no need to get a beta key anymore; all that is needed is an EA online account.
Capcom's Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Street Fighter IV were released earlier this month and by all accounts the sales for the long awaited fighting game have been excellent so far, as have the reviews (unlike the reviews for today's release of the new Street Fighter movie, but that's another story). Capcom has promised since the official announcement of Street Fighter IV that it would be coming to the PC but so far there's been no clear word on when that might happen.
It's one thing to play an online only game with just a few thousand people playing at one time in a closed beta test. It's quite another thing, however, to play such a game on the first week of its open beta phase where everyone and his mother is trying to sign on at the same time. A couple of months ago we posted up some hands-on impressions of id Software's newest game project Quake Live while it was still in closed beta. But the experience of playing the game this week was something a little different.
Welcome to Freeware Friday, a weekly column showcasing excellent games that you can play free of charge! Sometimes it's nice to sit down with a game that is so simple, so easy to learn and play, that you don't have to think at all. Turning gameplay into something serene and light, much like a delicious snickerdoodle handcrafted by mom, is an admirable thing to do. Jed falls into this category of game, and its simplicity of thought combined with some clever retro stylings make it a definite must play for any puzzler-platformer fan. It may not be complex enough or long enough to warrant an essay on, but it's certainly good enough to warrant a mention!
